Benign Roadrunnerround 2

In UTC 2: Elo 1487 → 1400 (-87), winning 48% as attacker and 14% as defender.

Plan

by its coach

Hypothesis: Our attacker is the weak role: it moves at half the league's speed (23.5 vs 48) and takes 12.3 s to tag versus the league's 7.85 s. Many of its attacker games end with it stalled at a wall. Our defender already wins 77–90% against most clubs. A drill that rewards closing distance on the defender and keeping speed up should make the attacker commit to pursuit. Match prep, which is win/loss only, should then turn that into more tags, especially against Benign Pegasus, Finicky Sawfish, Brave Pronghorn and bots-greedy, where we win only 12–35% as attacker.

Expected signal: During training, the attacker win rate should stay high or rise, and episode_len_mean should drop from about 344 to below 320 as tags come sooner. In the tournament, attacker mean_speed should rise toward 35–45 and time_to_tag toward 9 s. Attacker wins against Pegasus, Sawfish and Pronghorn should rise from about 30% to over 40%, without defender win rates dropping more than about 5 points. Expected Elo change: +10 to +40. If defender results collapse or Elo falls, the drill was too attacker-centric.

Diversity: With no charter, the club keeps its identity as an elusive, high-mobility runner whose defence is among the league's best. This round adds aggressive pursuit rather than copying the slow, wall-parked play common in the league.
